This blog is a proposal for the development of a sustainable city located in Wollongong, NSW, Australia and is set to be a beneficial role model to the rest of the world.
Why is sustainability in cities so important?
Cities will ultimately decide the future for humans. It is important to create and apply sustainable ways of living to our daily lives, as it will determine the nature of our biosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and atmosphere. In the future, cities almost need to transform themselves into self-regulating systems to provide for our growing population, as it is important for the wellbeing of humanity. Our cities around the world need to become more socially, economically and environmentally sustainable as the human population depends on it.
Cities serve as centres of storage, trade and manufacture. They have provided a fertile ground for the evolution of human culture, allowing us to explore new ideas and expand them to build a more sustainable and peaceful world. Agriculture was the starting point and fluctuated cities and still remains as the basic foundation to this day contributing a large part to our urban cities. The most successful cities use a lot of greenery; have stable transport systems, which are Eco-friendly, sustainable food and agricultural produce, a clean and easily accessible water source, smart infrastructure and a broad education.
